Paige has been working hard on these awesome bags that we’ve listed on Etsy. They are huge and can hold all your supplies for a sew-in or your pj’s and favorite blankie for a sleepover.

Susan was kind enough to be my supermodel for the day:)

Love, Love, Love this surfer one! I think if we weren’t selling it, she’d have to arm wrestle me for it!

I want one made out of this Michael Miller fabric we posted on Fabric Friday…Knitty Gritty. Wouldn’t that be super cute!

We also listed several Moda Jelly Rolls at great prices. So head on over and take a look.

Happy sewing everyone!

I finally have one of my sewing boxes listed on the Etsy store. I actually cut into..I know, say it isn’t so..the unfinished Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt I was working on to make this box.

I hand stitched everything from the flowers, the quilting, and the covering on the underside of the lid and I gotta tell ya that this is hard to part with. I think it turned out just awesome! It’s made from a vintage sewing machine treadle drawer and I’ve attached a lid that doubles as a pincushion. I use mine behind my machine for easy access to my pins, machine needles, and presser feet. It’s one of the things in my sewing room that is unique.

I’ve made several of these over the years. My mom has one out of an orphan block. My Grandma and my Mom-n-Law also have one. This is a pic of mine…

I also made the yellow one on the left. It turned out sooo cute! I machine appliqued the Grandmother’s Flower onto a cute yellow and purple flowered background and hand embroidered a lazy daisy flower in the center.

I’m choosing not to list this cutie on Etsy because it’s not as perfect as I like my things to be. Its flaw is that it doesn’t seem to close as tightly as the other one and I had to move the hardware on it once.  If it were mine, I would love it just the same but I kinda figured that if I’m expecting someone to pay for it, then they expect it to be at least close to perfect. I can’t list something I’m not completely happy with.

I just hate the thought of it not being used and loved by anyone. So I thought I would give it away to anyone who leaves a comment on this post today. I’ll pick the winner and post it tomorrow,  Saturday the 19th.

So if you’re interested please let me know. Remember it’s only for today, Friday the 18th.

Have a great weekend!

How many of you would like to organize for the new year? I know I could use all the help I can get, especially since I sew in such a small space. So every Tuesday for the month of January we will be talking about organization… rooms, spaces, closets, drawers etc. We will also be showing you some of the tips from the girls in our SewMod group. A peak behind the creativity.

Every time I went to take a class at the LQS I would end up having to purchase something because I just didn’t have a complete kit put together for leaving the house. I can’t even begin to tell you how many red spools of thread I have because of this.

Paige carries a sewing box purchased from Joann’s that has all the essentials in it. I loved that idea! No more scrambling at the last minute.  My brother and his girlfriend sent me this one for Christmas and my best friend gave me a Joann’s gift card. So, off to fill up my new kit.

Here’s the list of things in it…

large and small scissors

rotary tool, extra blade, small ruler, and tiny mat

pins and some satey pins for machine quilting

notebook, mechanical pencil, water and air erasable marker,  marking pen

machine needles, and any other set of needles you might use

thread…black, gray, white and for me…red, extra bobbins

seam ripper……..I was actually teased for not bringing one of these to class once:)

small binder clips

This could be ready and waiting for you. No more hassle trying to remember the tools and supplies every time. Just grab and go. Take it to class, retreats and sew-ins or on the road with you.

Thanks for the great idea Paige!
