Cleaning..no, but I seriously need to. Spring is much harder on my house than winter especially with a dog in the family.
Remember this vision of Christmas goodness?
Just got it back from the quilter and she used a blue marking pen on it. Need I say more? I really hate those things. They are very unpredictable! For starters, I’m not the girl who washes a quilt when I get it done. I like crisp and fresh. So that’s a little disappointing, but what’s a bigger disappointment is that I’m going to end up trashing something I worked hard on, cost a lot of money, cause let’s face it people fabric is not cheap, and it’s from my favorite lines of all time…ugh. I’m sooo frustrated. These are the pics of the quilt after it’s been washed a zillion times using a zillion methods. You may need to enlarge them for the blue to show up.
The blue is all over the borders also. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!…help:(
On a more positive note, I have been working on some bindings and a cute little baby quilt from the Just Dreamy line from Riley Blake.
Adorable! Can’t wait to finish this one! I see giant rick rack in this quilts future.

So sad to see your quilt ruined. I also destest those blue markers. I used one to mark some potholders for quilting at least 10 years ago. Even though they have been through the wash numerous times, the blue is still visible. I have no suggestions for you. I hope someone does.

Lorrie, I’m so sorry, what a disappointment :-( I don’t know which blue markers your quilter used, or you Liz, but I used a blue chalk liner on my granddaughter’s baby quilt, and had to wash it before giving it, and she is now going to be five, and the blue lines are still there! There were luckily only a couple of spots that didn’t show up that much, but I was still upset. I’ll never use blue again….for anything.
Did your quilter take responsibility, or did you have to pay her for this disaster? If we can see it this clearly on your photo, it must be much worst in person.

Wow Liz and Diane! All these years and still in there. Doesn’t leave me much hope. She knows about the blue not coming out with spraying it and I told her I would wash it and see if it comes out. I’m hoping she’ll follow up with me. I’ve been using her for about 6-7years and had no problems…we’ll see.

There’s a forum on http://www.marthapullen.com They discuss this alot. Normally, the only way to get rid of the blue marker is to soak it in water, JUST water. Any washing powder or stain remover could set it permanently. The good news is that they are blue. Every time this has happened to me, the lines have turned brown.
I sure hope you get them out.

I am sorry about this happening to your quilt. Different people have different ideas about what is ok. I have never used any sort of marker on my quilts so I can’t help you much. I love your Just dreamy blocks and ric rac is the best.

Just had a thought it may be good to ask the quilter which brand and contact manufacturer, they may be able to help.

Oh my this is such a unhappy story! I have had the same thing happen except I was the one that used the blue pen and it was only on a pillow. I use the pillow but the marker is still there after trying everything! I think my mistake was ironing it after I marked it. Stupid! Oh well live and learn!:-)
Your new quilt blocks look great! Of course I’m for rickrack! :-)
